The Disaster Management Center states that the heavy rains experienced in the country have affected over 26,000 families in several districts in the country.
The Center has stated today (25) that the over 33,000 persons in the Batticaloa, Trincomalee and several other Districts have been affected by floods following heavy rains.
Six camps have been set up in Batticaloa for the flood affected families and according to the Disaster Management Center, 655 families are currently being taken care of at these camps.
Sluice gates in several tanks in the Anuradhapura District in the North Central Province have also been opened due to heavy rains.
