Arrangements have been finalized to provide vocational training for the Army deserters who have been taken into custody. Special consideration will be given to those with a good record of conduct although they have not left the Army through a legal process.
A police report will be obtained from the relevant Police Stations. Military Spokesman Maj. Gen. Ubhaya Medawala said those who will be dismissed from the Army will be directed to a rehabilitation programme. They will be provided vocational training based on their skills. The aim of the effort is to provide them skills to enter the society and work under someone or serve in an industry. The programme aims to make them to be useful citizens.
