Family Court Judge Murdock dies in Hartsville

Family Court Judge Jamie Lee "Jim" Murdock Jr. has died from pancreatic cancer in Hartsville. He was 58.
Murdock died Christmas Day. Walter Brown of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home in Hartsville says Murdock had been under hospice care for a month.
Born in Augusta, Ga., Murdock grew up in Edgefield County and graduated from Strom Thurmond High School. He taught and coached in an Edgefield County high school after graduating from Presbyterian College.
Murdock graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School in 1983 and moved to Hartsville to practice law. He served at separate times as the municipal judge in Hartsville and Timmonsville and was elected a Family Court judge in 1992.
Murdock is survived by his wife and two sons.
