366 tractors have been provided for cultivation in the North. Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri said that a large quantity of seed paddy had been distributed among the cultivators.
The Governor said the harvest to be reaped by March next year will be 340 thousand metric tons. According to the initiatives taken by the Government, 384 thousand bushels of seed paddy had been distributed among the cultivators for the development of agriculture under the “Uthuru Wasanthaya” programme.
He was speaking at a ceremony organized for the distribution of tractors needed by the farmers of the Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Mannar districts. The Indian Government had gifted these tractors to upgrade the agricultural activities of the Northern civilians. Among those present was Minister Risath Bathiyudeen.
