The next phase of construction on Interstate 385 in South Carolina is set to start Monday.
The Transportation Department announced Thursday that work will start next week, weather permitting, on the 5.5 miles between Simpsonville and Greenville. That portion will be widened to six lanes.
The seven-mile, $65 million project also includes repaving and installing a median barrier wall. Construction is expected to take 30 months.
Funding includes $37 million from the 2009 federal stimulus act.
Work on 15 miles of the southern end of Interstate 385 wrapped up in July.
