A new programme is being planned for the distribution of fuel countrywide incurring a less expenditure. The developed Oil Storage Terminal at Muthurajawala has been opened.
The Muthurajawela Terminal hitherto distributed only diesel and kerosene, while the Kolonnawa Storage Complex handled the distribution of all types of fuel countrywide. As a result the Government had to bear a colossal expenditure. A heavy expenditure had to be incurred, while consuming more time due to traffic congestion, in the transport of fuel through bowsers to Kolonnawa from the Harbour. But Minister Susil Premajayantha said that solutions are being found to all these issue with the developed Storage Complex at Muthurajawela coming into full operational level today.
Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena and officials of the Ministry of Power and Energy were present.
