Tourists will soon be able to apply for visas to visit Sri Lanka via the internet. This follows instructions issued to the Immigration and Emigration Department by the President.
With the Government set to promote 2011 as the Year for Tourism under the tag “visit Sri Lanka 2011,” tourists seeking visas to visit Sri Lanka will be able to apply for their visas online.
Controller General of the Department for Immigration and Emigration Chulananda Perera said the facility will most likely be made available from next month. Once, the decision is implemented visas will be made available within a short period of time. He opined that tourists from any country would be able to apply for the visa online and make payments via affiliated banks, travel agents or a credit card online.
