Hearing set for Swansea man in Neb. missing-person case

Jan 2, 2011 9:07:00 PM - thestate.com
A South Carolina man suspected in the disappearance of a missing Nebraska college student will be back in court this week.

Joshua Keadle, 29, originally of Swansea, faces charges of first-degree sexual assault, false imprisonment and making terroristic threats in the alleged rape of a Peru State College student on Halloween. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday in Nemaha County Court in Auburn.

The charges were filed after Keadle’s arrest last month in the disappearance of Tyler “Ty” Thomas, another Peru State student. The freshman from Bellevue was last seen leaving an off-campus party on Dec. 3.

Court documents show Keadle, who has been suspended from Peru State, is suspected of providing false information and tampering with evidence in the investigation of Thomas’ disappearance, but no formal charges have been filed. The sheriff’s office has called him a person of interest in the case. Keadle was being held Sunday in the Nemaha County jail on $950,000 bail.
