Unprecedented sporting recognition for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has received an unprecedented sporting accolade when England’s leading daily newspaper “Daily Mail” named Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup winning cricket team under Arjuna Ranatunga in the number three position of their “Top 50 most entertaining teams in history”.
Describing the team, the articles states : “This wasn’t just an entertaining side, they had come from nowhere to become world champions in a the space of a few years - the fairytale story of the World Cup.
Sri Lanka were powered by their opening batsman Sanath Jayasuriya, who mauled all who faced him and became the prototype for all pinch-hitting batsmen at the top of the order.
