Public institutions assume work for New Year

All public institutions assumed duties for the New Year giving a firm pledge for an efficient and cordial service.

Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne marked the first working day at his office this morning. He commented that public employees should dedicate themselves to surmounting the challenges and meting out justice to the public. Deputy Minister M.K.D.S. Gunawardena and officials of the Prime Minister’s office were present.

Independent Television Network staff also marked their first working day this morning under the guidance of its Chairman Rosmond Senaratne. Senior officials and the staff were present on the occasion.

The staff of the Health Ministry commenced work for the New Year under the patronage of Minister Maithripala Sirisena and amidst religious observances.

The North Central Provincial Council began work for the new year pledging dedication towards an efficient public service. Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake and Governor Karunaratne Divulgane patronized in this event.

The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council marked the first working day amidst religious observances. People’s representatives and public officials participated at this event organized under the patronage of Chief Minister Mahipala Herath and Governor W.J.M. Lokubandara.
