The Government is also focussing on controlling the non-contagious diseases. Minister Maithripala Sirisena has said that special allocations have been made from the budget for this purpose.

The Minister made these observations when he made an inspection tour at the Maligawatte Kidney Transplant and Dialysis Centre. The Minister said that the situation of Kidney patients has posed a serious problem and a challenge to the Health sector. He said that therefore this problem has to be given priority in creating a healthy population while strengthening the health sector. In the 2011 budget of President Rajapaksa, 900 million rupees has been granted for the Health sector under a special proposal in addition to the annual allocations. He said that those funds too can be used for the procurement of the special equipment.
