Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne has said that a country can develop through proper economic development and not by providing relief. He said the budget is focusing on that direction.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the President has incorporated plans in the 2011 budget to develop the economy of the entire country from the grass root level. He said that by implementing those plans the children of this country will be able to lead comfortable lives. The Prime Minister was speaking after inaugurating a building on the Dharmapala Mawatha in Colombo belonging to the Department of Buddhist Affairs. The building which is named “Daham Paya” comprises seven floors. Members of the Maha Sangha led by Mahanayake of the Amarapura Nikaya the Ven. Dauldena Gnanissara Thera, Ministers and religious leaders were present on the occasion.
