The Government is planning to launch an exchange programme to provide local students opportunities to study in foreign Universities. Minister S.B. Dissanayake revealed this at a media briefing in Colombo.
The Minister said that agreements are being signed with foreign Universities to provide opportunities for students to study a semester consisting of three months in a local university and carry forward the marks acquired there and study in a foreign university for another semester or two. He said that this opportunity will be available for foreign students as well to arrive in Sri Lanka and enter a university or a post-graduate institution to study for one or two semesters and carry forward the marks acquired. He said that discussions are underway to start a number of non-governmental universities this year. Their aim is to compete with those and improve in quality to reach a higher level.
