Snow is in the forecast for Monday.
You know the routine. Moisture meets cold air in South Carolina. Where? When? How much? Too early to tell. But its beginning to look like the start of the next work week could involve late starts or snow days.
The National Weather Services calls for a chance of snow (thats 30-50 percent) after dark Sunday through Monday morning in the Midlands. And then another chance after dark Monday into Tuesday morning.
Usually, Midlands residents pooh-pooh such talk, knowing the snow/rain line often is drawn just south of Greenville. But Columbia has had two major snowfalls in the past 12 months 8.6 inches Feb. 12-13 and 1.8 inches on Dec. 26. If you believe things happen in threes, maybe the third Columbia snowfall is next week.
The Columbia weather service offices forecast discussion uses the word may several times in talking about the snow possibility, but the Greenville-Spartanburg office, which covers portions of the North Carolina mountains, says snowfall should be significant in that area Sunday and Monday.
