Getting tougher on illegal immigration, requiring photo identification at the polls, and reforming the state's decades-old education funding system are among measures South Carolina House Republicans say they will focus on this session.
The House Republican Caucus released its agenda Thursday for the next two years. It includes bills the House has passed before - some multiple times. For example, the House has approved shortening the legislative session nine times already.
The list also includes anti-abortion legislation. Democratic Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter criticized Republicans as trotting out old wedge issues that divide people, rather than zeroing in on economic development.
A new Republican proposal would give a tax credit to people who invest in startup companies.
