President Rajapaksa has said that the time has come for the politicos to direct their attention towards the country.
The President pointed out that it is the obligation of political leaders as well as those who are displaying a keen interest on politics to think of the country irrespective of their political opinion, party and policy. The President was speaking at the opening of the Robert Gunawardena Memorial Library Complex in Kaduwala. It ws built with grants of the Kaduwala Pradeshiya Sabha and under the guidance of its Chairman G.H. Buddhadhasa. The three storied Complex is equipped with an auditorium and an office complex. A Children’s Park has also been built. The total expenditure incurred was 70 million rupees.
Speaking further, the President said that an election heat is now being felt.
The President said that some important duty should be performed considering the country and not aiming at elections and considering the posterity. The country should be developed for the children to be born today, tomorrow and the future. Everyone should unite in the development of the country. The President commented that there is no person than he who had been denigrated in the past. The danger is that they are being insulted in the world, particularly their motherland. There may be different political agendas, but the President emphatically stated that with regard to the country, their stand should be the same
Members of the Maha Sangha, Parliamentarians and political leaders of the area were among the large gathering present.
