The government has said the 14th national census on population and housing to be conducted this year is estimated to cost Rs. 700 million.
The census this time is to cover all 25 districts in the country after 30 years. During the period of the war, districts in the North and East were not included in the census.
The last census was held in 1981 and was then confined to 18 districts only.
The Cabinet has granted approval to a memorandum submitted by the President to hold the 14th national census in 2011.
