The Meteorological Department announces that many parts of the country will experience showers owing to turbulences in the upper atmosphere.
Duty Meteorologist Meryl Mendis said that scattered showers will be expected in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central and Uva Provinces and in the Matale and Hambantota Districts. He pointed out that showers or thunder showers are expected in Eastern and South–Eastern coastal areas. Scattered showers are expected in other coastal areas as well. He opined that the prevailing weather condition will continue for the next few days. Meanwhile, the country experienced the highest rainfall of 118 millimeters in Batticaloa at 3.00 am today.
