The private buses are being operated as usual. The employees of the buses say that they reject the strike call.
Several Bus Associations plan to stage a strike today, in the Western province. Yesterday the Private Bus Owners Association announced that they will not be joining the strike. The decision was made after holding discussions with the Government.
President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemun Wijeratne said that today buses are being operated as usual. He said that they held discussions with senior Ministers and decided to suspend the strike on the assurance given by them to assist them in finding solutions to their problems.
After the union decided to operate buses as usual the strike call became unsuccessful. The buses in the Western Province are plying as usual from this morning. The employees said that they do not expect to join the strike as they have full faith in the President.
