NTUC To Discuss With JSS And NSS

Jan 11, 2011 7:29:53 AM - thesundayleader.lk

The National Trade Union Center (NTUC) has decided to hold discussions with trade unions like the UNP affiliated Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (JSS) and UPFA affiliated Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya (NSS) to decide on the action to be taken to urge for a salary increase for the working masses.

NTUC Convener, Samantha Koralearachchi told the media that the NTUC steering committee has decided to invite trade union leaders at grass root level to discuss the action to be taken to urge the government for a salary increment in line with the rising cost of living.

He notes that the cost of living has seen a steady increase in the past few years and the increments offered by the government was insufficient for the working masses to meet their expenses.

The NTUC has decided to hold a conference with other trade unions on January 18 at the Public Library, which is also expected to serve as a public awareness campaign for the demands of the working masses.
