Almost all tanks and reservoirs overflowing

Almost all tanks and reservoirs are overflowing following the heavy rain experienced countrywide. The public have been urged to be vigilant.

The Irrigation Director General has called on residents in the environs of the Galoya Weeragoda Tank to evacuate as the tank may breach at anytime.

Sluice gates of all reservoirs in Matale have been opened due to the torrential rain experienced in the district.

All six sluice gates of the Nachchaduwa Reservoir have been opened. Irrigation authorities have urged the public living on either side of Malwatu Oya to be on alert.

Four sluice gates of the Lunugamvehera Reservoir have been opened. As a result, the water level of Kirindi Oya is on the rise.

The Irrigation Engineer has called on the public living on low lying areas to be vigilant as measures have been taken to open the sluice gates of the Kala Wewa. Meanwhile, the people had been called upon to exercise vigilance as sluice gates of many tanks had been opened.
