The Security Forces have extended maximum assistance to provide relief to the people affected by the inclement weather in Batticaloa.
318 thousand 500 people have been affected due to floods in Batticaloa District. Many peoples’ representatives of the District have taken the initiative to carryout relief programmes. A massive programme has been launched by the Ministry of Resettlement in the District. The security forces are working under the guidance of Eastern Commander Major General Boniface Perera. In addition the Navy and the Air Force have also launched rescue missions. The security forces were engaged in distributing relief among the victims during the entire day yesterday.
