The Canadian High Commission today announced an immediate contribution to supplement efforts made by the Government, UN and other agencies to assist those affected by severe flooding afflicting many parts of Sri Lanka.
The High Commission wants to help get assistance to people immediately. As such the aid will be directed through Caritas, since it has a record of being able to deliver efficiently. This was mentioned by Canada’s High Commissioner, Bruce Levy. The High Commissioner said they will also give careful consideration to any further appeals that may come from the Government of Sri Lanka and other agencies. The related cheque for the assistance was presented at the High Commission this morning, under the patronage of Bruce Levy.
