Private organizations offer relief

Private organizations have offered to provide relief for the flood victims.

Essential goods worth hundreds of thousands rupees were handed over to Minister Maithripala Sirisena to be distributed among the displaced people who have tken refuge in temporary camps. Aid is being distributed in Ampara, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Kalmunai and Polonnaruwa Districts. The Buddhist Association of the Health Ministry has donated aid worth nearly one million rupees.

Meanwhile a private business establishment dealing with jewellery has donated a stock of milk powder worth 244,000 rupees. It was handed over to the Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera by Deputy Minister Faizar Mustaffa.

The Niyaz Moulavi Foundation has handed over a stock of dry rations and necessary goods to be distributed amongst more than 5000 people in East Eravur. The goods worth 1.5 million rupees are being distributed under the patronage of the Member of ITN Board Hashim Omar.
