DMC: Death Toll From Floods Increase

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) has stated that the death toll due to the heavy rains have increased to 32 deaths while 49 persons have been reportedly injured and 12 persons missing.

The latest DMC statistics state that over 1,056,255 persons from 282,953 families have been affected by floods and heavy rains in several districts including Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Vavuniya.

According to the Center, over 339,200 are currently residing in welfare camps set up in various parts of the country.
The area 87,899 families in 584 welfare camps in Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Kilinochchi and other Districts.
While over 3,737 houses have been fully damaged by the floods , there are 19,356 houses that have been partially damaged in the affected districts.
