Mervyn To Ban Several Vegetables From Kelaniya

Jan 15, 2011 7:56:12 AM - thesundayleader.lk

Public Relations and Public Affairs Minister Mervyn Silva is to encourage people in his constituency to grow vegetables in their home gardens by stopping the sale of several vegetables in the area.

Silva has said at a gathering in Kelaniya that vegetables like Green Chillies, Tomatoes, Gourd and Lady Fingers will not be sold in the Kelaniya area during the April New Year in order to encourage people in the Kelaniya electorate to grow these vegetables in their home gardens.

Silva has also said that this campaign will be aimed at encouraging people to be self-sufficient in order to address the vegetable shortage that would affect the people due to the floods.
