Minister Mervyn Silva has stressed that the politicians should be involved in providing relief instead of deriving pleasure out of the disaster situation.
The Minister said that the country has not undergone a major disaster at a time when the entire world is in turmoil. He said that the affected people in Batticaloa and Ampara have already been provided with the necessary items. He called upon the members of other parties to join them in transforming the disaster situation to a positive event. He said that political rivalry should be settled in the political arena. The Minister expressed this view while distributing dry rations among 350 low income families and uniforms to the school children in those families. The businessmen in the area made the contributions.
