Malacca has come forward to help the people who have been affected due to floods.
A delegation from Malacca led by Chief Minister Mohammad Ali Rushdan visited the Eastern Province yesterday to look into the requirements of the people in the east. The delegation met with the Governor of the Eastern Province to discuss about relief to be provided for the flood affected. The delegation from Malacca promised to extend maximum support to uplift the living standards of people living in the Eastern Province. Minister Rauf Hakim and Parliamentarian M.S. Thawfeek were among those present on the occasion.
Meanwhile the Community Service Unit of the Peoples Bank of Trincomalee handed over a stock of dry rations and necessary goods worth 2.5 million rupees for the flood affected people in Trincomalee.
Flood relief is being continuously provided by the relief programme launched by the ITN. The ITN audience too can participate in the programme. Donations are being accepted at the main ITN office at Wickramasinghepura, Battaramulla and the Marketing Division at Torrington.
