President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the Government has honoured the pledges given to the people making Mahinda Chinthana Extended Version a reality.
The President mentioned this when he declared open the Sangupiddi Bridge connecting Jaffna and the rest of the Island. It has been built with British assistance at a cost of 1037 million of rupees. With the opening of the new bridge the distance between Mannar and Jaffna has been shortened by 110 kilometers.
Speaking on the occasion, the President further said the Government has paid a special attention to developing the North and the East. Ministers Douglas Devananda, Basil Rajapaksa, Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri, President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga were present.
