No fuel price hike – Oil Minister

Jan 17, 2011 10:50:12 AM - itnnews.lk

Minister Susil Premajayantha has revealed that Sri Lanka’s fuel prices still remain at the 2009 level despite a surge in prices in the world

The Minister said the present fuel prices prevailed a year and two months ago. There had been an upward revision in oil prices when considering a developed country such as the United States and in neighboring India. The President has given instructions that at a time when massive development was taking place in the country, to maintain the prevailing oil prices to the maximum they could without placing additional burdens on the people. The Petroleum Corporation is in the process of taking this initiative to provide a quality service.

The Minister was speaking after opening the 1032nd filling station of the Petroleum Corporation at Bokundara in Piliyandala. A notable feature is the availability of modern technology at this filling station. Many people’s representatives including Ministers A.H.M. Fowzie, Gamini Lokuge and Rajitha Senaratne were present.
