National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara has assured that he would resolve the controversy surrounding the national anthem.
Addressing a cultural event in Ratnapura to mark Thaipongal, Nanayakkara has said that the reccontroversyerrecent controversy over the national anthem would be resolved in a manner that would protect the rights of all communities.
Interestingly, the Minister has made this statement soon after the national anthem was played in Sinhalese at the beginning of the ceremony.
According to Nanayakkara, his intention was to create a society where no translators were needed.
