UN Assistant Secretary for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, Catherine Bragg is to visit Sri Lanka on a three day official visit commencing Wednesday (19).
The UN office in Colombo has told the media that Bragg will meet with the flood displaced persons in the country.
Her visit is aimed at highlighting the UN’s commitment in providing humanitarian relied and assistancefor the people in Sri Lanka and to advocate on behalf of the vulnerable people.
During her stay in the country, Bragg is scheduled to meet with representatives from the government, donor community and aid agencies.
The UN is to launch a Flash Appeal for emergency funds to respond to the Sri Lankan flood crisis during Bragg’s visit.
