The Lexington County father and two young sons who died Sunday in a house fire perished of smoke inhalation and burns, the coroners office said Monday after autopsies were completed.
Neither fire officials nor county law enforcement officers would release the names of the deceased nor the cause of the fire. Coroner Harry Harman said Monday that officials want to check dental and other records before providing the identities. Relatives of those who died said Sunday that authorities also asked them not to publicly name them.
The Sheriffs Department and the State Law Enforcement Division have been asked to help with the investigation, a move that Lexington County Public Safety director Bruce Rucker said is routine in cases of fatal fires.
There is nothing here that we think is suspicious, Rucker said of the cause of blaze that seven residents survived. But its still under investigation.
