The visiting Indian Air Force Chief meets the Prime Minister. Their meeting directed attention on expanding defence ties between the two countries.
Indian Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Vsantha. Naik is on a three-day visit to the island. He called on Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne today. The visiting Indian Air Force Chief pointed out that the consolidation of security in Sri Lanka is an impetus to India’s defence. The need to expand ties Military-wise by further solidifying state and political ties between the two countries, was underscored at this meeting.
Prime Minister Jayaratne appreciated the support given by India in the process of vanquishing LTTE terrorism and consolidating security in Sri Lanka. He thanked India for the support extended for the development of the North and East and in sudden disasters. The meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office was attended by India’s High Commissioner Ashok K. Kantha.
