The investigative report on abduction, misleading and Mannar white van incidents has been released.
Individuals and groups who were unable to bear the elimination of terrorism which plagued the country for three decades, were engaged in an untiring effort to reverse all victories through false propaganda. Their weapon was abduction of youth, disappearances during daylight, armed thugs and white van threats. An investigative report points out that they were attempting to indicate corruption in the face of the North-East development programmes. It is mentioned in this report that it was the media personnel who were against the Sri Lanka Army and loyal to the LTTE during the war period, had published such false reports.
The publication of such unwarranted reports at a time when international support was being extended for North-East development is aimed at hoodwinking the countries that were supporting development. LTTE loyalists as well as their pro-media were engaged in an untiring effort to particularly dupe India, the United States, China, Japan, Canada and the United Nations. The report indicated that all those who were arrested from Jaffna had been engaged in suspicious incidents. Immediately, after their arrests, the relevant authorities had initiated action to apprise their relatives of the apprehensions. At the same time, the report further indicated that the arrested suspects had pointed out that they were not at all abducted.
