A programme has been launched to develop water supply schemes in Labugama and Kalatuwawa at the cost of 5.2 billion rupees.
The work was launched under the patronage of Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. The joint project between Sri Lankan and Hungarian Governments marks the 125th Anniversary of the Labugama Reservoir.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said the aim of the project is to provide pure safe potable water to the masses. The Minister said the project will cost of 5.2 billion rupees. The work is due to be completed in 24 months. He said that the water supply can be augmented through this project to provide clean drinking water to many people.
