The Government has decided to continue the granting of all facilities need by the flood victims. Briefing the weekly Cabinet news briefing today, Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said the Government has taken all appropriate measures in this respect.
The Minister said relief assistance will be extended to all flood victims irrespective of their income level and of the place where they took shelter, whether with relatives or in welfare camps. On a proposal submitted by the Minister of Disaster Management, Mahinda Amaraweera, Cabinet has granted approval to provide relief to families affected by the recent floods in the Northern, Eastern, and North Central Provinces as well as in the Central and Uva Provinces. The government on the direction of the President has taken immediate relief measures to provide cooked meals, dry rations and other urgently required items and shelter for the victims.
