This will be the first time the APB has invited a Sri Lankan to play in this prestigious tournament.  President, Asia Pacific Barbarians in his invitation to Marija has stated, “Our aim is to showcase the great players from the across the region, and ensure rugby fans are aware of the talent that exists. As such, we are assembling an exciting squad for the tournament, and we would be delighted to have you play to represent your club and rugby in Sri Lanka.”
Throughout the Hong Kong 7s week the APB will be hosting coaching clinics at schools and clubs, as well as other activities to promote rugby in the region.  With names such as Christina Cullen, Justin Marshall, Semo Sititi, Hale T-Pole, Epi Tiaone, Rico Gear and Orene Ai’i also in the squad, Marija will certainly help raise the profile of rugby among the youth.
For the Hong Kong Tens the APB’s have the legendary David Campese as Head Coach. From Asian rugby the team has Timur Mashurov, captain of Kazakhstan, and former Japanese Test captain, Takuro Miuchi, in its ranks.
