The Nenasala Project launched in Sri Lanka has earned World Bank acclamation.
The World Bank had made inquiries into the manner in which Information Technology had been used to empower civilian life. The World bank had drawn its attention to the e-Sri Lanka initiative mooted on a concept of President Rajapaksa. The World Bank had commended the use of Information Technology in rural areas via Nenasala Centres. World Bank Managing Director Dr. Ngozi Okonjo who undertook a tour of Nenasala Centres in the Eastern Province had highly appreciated the programme. She said Sri Lanka had succeeded in systematically enhancing computer literacy. She assured continued assistance from the Bank for the expansion of Information Technology.
