Field data on National Parks collected

The Wildlife Conservation Department is currently gathering field data on biodiversity information and geological data of its National Parks to develop facilities inside them to correspond with international standards to promote quality eco tourism.
The Treasury has allocated Rs 525 million to the Wildlife Conservation Department to upgrade access roads, information centers , circuit bungalows, camp sites and other infrastructure facilities in National Parks. Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S M Chandrasena said moves are underway to develop infrastructure facilities at five national parks to international standards under a new National Parks Development strategy.
The National Parks in the list of development are Yala, Wilpattu, Kumana, Horton Plains and Minneriya, he said.
