Look for rain, not snow Tuesday

Remember that slight chance of snow for the Midlands this week? Well, as the moisture-producing system moving up from the Gulf of Mexico has come into better focus, the National Weather Service has leaned more heavily to a rain-only forecast.
The weather service expects heavy rain, maybe 1.5 inches from midday Tuesday through midday Wednesday. A little snow might mix in early in the mountains in the northwest corner of South Carolina, but even that should be followed by rain and washed away quickly, according to the weather service.
