Fisheries trawlers which had been hijacked by the LTTE have been repaired and returned to fishermen.
Deputy Minister Susantha Punchinilame patronized in the handing over of such trawlers to fishermen. 62 fisheries trawlers and 55 engines which were forcibly taken by the LTTE terrorists during the war have been repaired and given to the fishermen. The handing over took place at the Mullaitivu beach. Giving his views on this occasion the Deputy Minister said the inland fishery industry was paralyzed as a result of terrorism. He added that the Government has taken all possible initiatives to bring normality to the industry.
