The acceptance of nominations for the Local Government polls will end at 12.00 noon tomorrow. The period given for independent groups ended at 12 noon today.
The United People’s Freedom Alliance had made arrangements to hand in nominations for every local authority. Sri Lanka freedom Party General Secretary and Minister Maithripala Sirisena said their nominations were prepared representing every sector including young men and women from among thousands of applicants.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa headed the filing of nominations of the Freedom Alliance to the 11 local bodies in the Gampaha District. The nominations were given to the Chief Returning Officer J.J. Ratnasiri at the Gampaha District Secretariat. Several Parliamentarians were present.
The United National Party today filed nominations for several local bodies in the Kegalla, Vavuniya and Polonnaruwa districts, and for four local authorities in the Puttalam district as well as for the Jaela Urban Council.
The JVP submitted nominations for the Puttalam, Kegalla, Polonnaruwa, anuradhapura and Kurunegala districts.
