Virender Sehwag and Kumar Sangakkara from the Indian and Sri Lankan cricket teams joined hands for a campaign to increase awareness on the prevention of HIV infection.
The campaign, launched yesterday and organized with UNICEF and UNAIDS, is geared at encouraging young people to be informed, take appropriate action to prevent HIV infection and stand together against the stigma and discrimination often facing people living with HIV.
The promos, some 30 seconds long, are colorful and aimed at younger audiences. Encouraging them to talk about HIV related issues. Sangakkara encourages fans to “wait, stick to one partner, or use a condom”, before Sehwag calls on young adults to “get the facts, protect yourself against HIV”.
The program is a part of the ICC’s ongoing ‘Think Wise’ partnership, formed in 2003 and boasting several key names in cricket as its supporters.
