The government is to distribute seed paddy and fertilizer to all farmers whose paddy lands were damaged during the recent floods in the country.
The government has estimated that about 200,000 acres of paddy land have been damaged by the floods.
Agrarian Services Commissioner General Ravindra Hewavitarana has told the media that the government would provide seed paddy and fertilizer to these farmers.
The government has stated that while 400,000 acres of paddy land was affected by the floods, only 200,000 acres have been completely destroyed.
According to Hewavitarana, the damaged extent of paddy lands accounted for about ten percent of the country’s entire paddy cultivation.
