This time, it wasnt a train that was blocking Rosewood Drive at Assembly Street.
Instead, the intersection was closed for two days so CSX railroad company could repair ties and resurface the tracks at the intersection, said Carla Groleau, a CSX spokeswoman.
The intersection should be open this morning for commuters, Groleau said.
The railroad company is rebuilding parts of the track between Columbia and the city of Sumter. No other major intersections should be affected by the work as it continues throughout the week, she said.
CSX notified the S.C. Department of Transportation and sought help in preparing a detour route, said Pete Poore, transportation department spokesman. And the company notified the city of Columbia so its emergency responders could work with the detour, Groleau said.
