A network to examine the veracity of food security in Sri Lanka has been established.
It has been installed by the UN Agency World Food Programme and the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute. The network is able to monitor the food and provide information related to warnings on food security and food production. It can also give market information on food commodities within a changing global situation. The German Government has extended support to this project. The launching of the network was held under the patronage of Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and WFP Resident Representative of Sri Lanka Adnan Khan. German Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jens Plotner was also present.
