Many nomination lists rejected

Meanwhile, nominations filed by main political parties and independent groups for several local bodies have been rejected.

The United national Party nominations submitted for the homagama Pradeshiya Sabha in the Colombo district have been rejected.

UNP nominations submitted for the Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha within the Kegalla district have been rejected. The reason attributed was the inclusion of a candidate less than 18 years. Three nominations papers of two more political parties and three independent groups filed for the Kegalla district had been rejected.

The nominations filed by the Freedom Alliance as well as the UNP for the Ambilipitiya Urban Council in the Ratnapura district have also been rejected.

Our reporters say that the Freedom alliance nominations for the Amkeemana Pradeshiya Sabha and the UNP nominations for the Baddegama Pradeshiya Sabha in the Galle district have been turned down. The nominations filed by the Freedom alliance for the Moneragala and Siyambalaanduwa Pradeshiya Sabhas of the Moneragala district have been rejected.

Nominations filed by five political parties for the Nuwara Eliya district have been rejected. These include the Freedom Alliance nominations submitted for the Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Sabha and the Talawakelle Lindula Urban Council.

In the meantime, the nominations of the Tamil National Alliance filed for the Punekarai and Pachchilai-palai Pradeshiya Sabhas of the Kilinochchi district have been rejected.

The nomination list filed by the Freedom Alliance for the Polgahawela Pradeshiya Sabha in the Kurunegala district have been rejected.

The nominations handed in by the Janasetha Peramuna for the Bandarawela Pradeshiya Sabha and the nominations of the Lanka Samasamaja Party for the Ridimaa-liyadde Pradeshiya Sabha of the Badulla district have been rejected.

The Freedom Alliance nominations of the Wilgamuwa and Pallepola Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Matale district have been turned down, while the nominations of the JVP for the Wilgamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha and the nominations of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress for the Ukkuwela Pradeshiya Sabha also in the Matale district have been rejected.

Our reporters say that the nomination papers of the Freedom Alliance for the Yatinuwara Pradeshiya Sabha in the Kandy district have been rejected. A large number of nominations filed by minor parties and independent groups for more local bodies have been turned down.
