The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) will make an inspection tour of Welioya to study the actual situation that prevailed during terrorism.
The Commission said that recording evidence from the public will end on Monday. The Commission was appointed by the President to analyse the lessons learnt from terrorism and make recommendations to avert such a situation in the future. It has recorded evidence from intellectuals as well as the public. The Commission will undertake a field tour of Welioya area tomorrow. They will give an ear to the views of the people who were living in Welikanda and Palliyagodella in the Polonnaruwa District which faced terrorist threats. The sittings in the Ampara District were postponed due to the flood situation. It will be held next month. The final report will be handed over to the President in May after perusing the evidence.
