Jaffna civilians now enjoy religious freedom. The Naguleshwaram Kovil is a location where the Hindu devotees enjoy the freedom of professing their faith.
Not only devotees from the North but also of the South pay obeisance at this Kovil. It is located at Kankesanthurai in Jaffna. It is of significance to the Hindus as they use it mainly to bestow merits on relatives who had passed away. They also believe that they can get cured by bathing in the Naguleshwaran Pond. With the Peninsula returning to peace, reconstruction of the Naguleshwara Kovil has also begun.
The devotees are upbeat about the religious freedom they enjoy at present. They are also satisfied as the High Security Zones have been removed. Recalling the past, they said that they had been unable to visit the Kovil. However, they claim they now have God’s blessings.Their only wish is that prosperity should reach the country
